Modern Tropical with an agenda of ecologically conscientious living in mind. This is essentially a modern house on stilts. Along with traditional vented dutch gable roofs, the design incorporates an integrated underground rainwater collection system and an air cooling chamber that work in tandem to passively cool the house. Rainwater collected through the extended eaves, inspired by an umbrella concept, maximizing collection, is delivered down into an underground cistern and passes through several stages sediment filtration. Ambient air is also directed into the air-cooling chamber which is interlaced into the underground cistern. An open-layout design is employed to address the limited space, with several rooms doubling up in functionality. Large openings and glass walls from all directions let in natural light and facilitate cross ventilation. This visual expanse ties together the outdoor landscaping with the sparse interiors.
